Bend Central District
Taylor Brooks owns property within the Bend Central District. Located in the heart of Bend, the Central District is envisioned as a vibrant mixed-use residential and commercial hub.
Located in the heart of town, the Bend Central District (BCD) was previously a light industrial zone, but in recent years has been the subject of a revitalization effort aimed at creating a vibrant, walkable community with a diverse mix of uses.
The BCD presents several opportunities for revitalization. The area is located in a prime location near downtown Bend, but was underutilized and lacked a strong identity. It is home to a significant amount of underdeveloped land given its potential for a variety of more intensive urban uses. Located in a federal Opportunity Zone intended to spur investment and designated as an Urban Renewal District with updated development code, this area is ripe for private development.
Taylor Brooks acquired property within the BCD early as an investment in the future of this exciting revitalization effort. We own two key properties within the BCD that we are currently evaluating for redevelopment.
Staff participation on the City’s Core Area Advisory Board will help oversee the implementation of the Tax Increment Financing that will fund improvements to the area’s transportation infrastructure, including new pedestrian and bicycle facilities and improvements to public transit. These improvements will provide certainty for private development projects such as ours.
While we closely monitor the City’s efforts, we continue to conceptualize the projects for our property within the BCD with the intention to kickoff projects with in 2-5 years.
